I think the Hikari Marine S and Marine A are the best marine dry food going. Anyone agree or disagree?

Haven't tried the Hikari flakes, any ideas if they've brought out their granulated marine food in the UK yet?

I've had great results feeding the various New Era flakes.

Hi James i have not tried the Hikari food, as i have used Ocean Nutrition for the last few years and found it very good. I was recommended to try by Chis at The Ranch the New Era algae flake for my Tangs but they wont eat it, i have mixed it with the O N food but they just leave it. Where do you get your Hikari food from as Aquarius dont as yet stock it. Eric :)

New Era flake program, used that for around 14mths with no problems, tank mates love the stuff. even caught a clown breaking into the tub and making off with three days supply. :D

Hikari is not a flake it is a sinking pellet. It is the only food by bangai cardinal will touch that isnt live. Tangs love it as do my clowns. What I like about it as it is a sinking pellet the clean up crew can clean up over feeding. There is two differnt sizes, S for clown etc and A for large fish - Tangs.

I will get the catalogue looked out and PM you the UK distributor. I am needing some myself as it was not being allowed to Export from Japan for a few months for some legal issue.

Surprised you have not heard of the company Eric as the do a vast range of food for Koi.

I've always fed Ocean Nutrition flake & pellets, my fish absolutely love them. I feed a combination of Formula 1, Formula 2 and the Brine Shrimp Plus. Even managed to get difficult feeders weaned onto it within a week. I also feed nori from Tesco's, which is technically a dried food too ;)

I use Ocean Nutrition with good results. All the formulas mixed together. All gets scoffed + fish looking fed a well. I would imagine all brands are pretty much the same.

Hi James. I have heard of Hikari but not for marines, i used it when i had freshwater fish. Thee is a freeze dried food out now called provit by TMC, it comes in a clicker pack and you keep it in the freezer and it supposed to be excellent. Eric.

Tried a sample of New Era herbivore flakes from Marine Tech (many thanks), my few fish (Clown, Dwarf Angel & blenny) went wild for it, so much so that I've since purchased further supplies (along with a sample of the Marine flakes, they seem to be just as keen on this as well).

Just my opinion, but I still think the garlic thing is a bit of a myth?:D The only thing that definitley prevents whitespot is good water husbandry, correct stocking levels.:)

Disturbing and very sorry for you loss!! The clicking noise is more than likely a pistol shrimp but mantis shrimps also produce a distinctive snap sound. I think you should check into why you c beauty has died. I know they are susceptible to white spot did it show any signs?

I dont buy the garlic thing at all!

Keep your livestock will fed (little and often) and they will a much healthier immune system which of course will help them fight off infections (much similair to ourselves)

Back to the flake....

I have used a mixture of 4 Ocean Nutrition flakes to feed my fish with daily for the last 3 years but i think i will try the new era foods as they have had a lot of good reviews.
