Does anybody know how long it take to make 5 GALLON of RO WATER? AS it costs £5 for 5 gallons at LFS,So I'm sure it would be cheaper to get an RO MACHINE,Then also could make water for local people at a charge.

hi mike it's well worth getting your own ro unit imo as for how long to make 5 gal well that would depend on the size of the unit and also the water pressure, but it wouden't take that long and it would save you going backwards and forwards to your lfs too well worth the money:D

Lots of us do - its not hard.;)
Purchase salt (from Macca), add this to RO water to correct level (Use a refractometer to measure 35ppt).
Mix the above with a powerhead for 24 hours, bring up to temp - add to tank (after of course you remove the same quantity of old water from the tank).
Job done. :)

Hi,
1.025 is the SG, which is fine - hower SG will vary with temp (so if you mix salt cold to 1025, by the time its heated up to tank temp it will have changed). So if you have a refractometer and when you look through it you will notice on one side of the scale SG and the other salinity, I use this as salinity will not change with temp. NSW has a salinity of 35ppt.

Hi Mike where do you get you RO water from at £5 for 5 gallons they are robbing you. My RO runs 100 gallon in about 25 hours which i bought from RO Man last year before James opened. James does RO MAN units so get to him for one. Twiggy:D:D
