picked up my 4x2x2 on Saturday morning:D

been busy for the previous couple of weeks, doing plenty of water changes, and storing the water in big vats ready to transfer to new tank, to help make it a bit more fish friendly, as i know 100% its the same water as they are coming out of.

It is now Monday, all stock was transferred last night after letting the new tank sit for 24 hours just to settle,

built some racking in the meantime, to help to create a better aquascape, than in previous, never done this before so the racking may look crap, to some of you guys who can make this stuff in their sleep.
me however, "if its made of wood, i can build, repair etc" racking took me all day...:D

The tank along with sump, and everything else was finished setting up at around 2am Sunday morning ( still tired now, trying to catch up )

Heres a few pictures of the various stages i have gone through in the last 2 days,,,needless to say,,i now have a headache...

Water in Saturday around 7pm ,,and a couple of old rocks purely for my visuals..lol

racking in using spare rocks to stop it floating

transferred a few bits to help with the clearing, sunday afternoon

just got home from work tank has cleared, all my stock is in, now i just got to start to arrange everything :D

so there you have it, from tank to tank in 2 days, which included me actually going picking the tank up,
all i need now is to find time to have around 5 hours sleep, to let my body catch up, coz its shattered,,feeeling permanently hung over at the moment :D

will post some more over next couple of days, as i manouver things, and as it settles down

cheers

Congrats!! Must have been a stressful time. Keep an eye on your fish, you are overstocked in there even with the upgrade.

Looking good , keep up the good work, may be you should ask the mods to put this thread in members tank section, and then keep adding to the thread. Looks like it could be a good tank for January TOTM.:D

sounds about right,,,always posting in the wrong place me...:D

Cheers Tom, but with regards to overstocking .It just looks full coz everything is at the front,,there is only around 8 fish,
I think if my regal, or lipstick tang get a bit too big, then i would pass them along to someone with more space.

All this tank stock has been up and running best part of 4 years in its current stock, + or - the odd fish....the clowns i have had for over 12 years that could be a record in itself...

plus going from around 80 gallons to 120 gallons,,+ sump another 50 gallons or so...bio load wise i think i am good.

hopefully everything will be ok, everything looks happy in the tank,,all corals are opening, all fish feeding and behaving normal :D

Hi

Certainly not trying to be pessimistic but the lipstick and regal are looking almost too big for your tank. Its not the bioload its the fact that they need more swimming space. Also, in relation to size of the 4x2x2. It will hold approx. 100 uk gals and thats if you filled to the top and didn't put any rock in which will displace quite a large amount of water. Something to consider.

Cheers

tank is looking very well,as reguarding fish i think you are on the limit for stocking so be careful not to add to many more.derek

Well done i have moved it into here for you so you can add to it at a later date. As Tom 2006 says you are a bit over stocked with those tangs especially the Powder Blue as they are used to open water and like space to swim in. HTH Twiggy:D:D

cheers guys

although i do feel as if i am being told off somewhat

tangs don't just like to dart up and down the length of the tank,,they like rockwork caves,,etc..
I certainley think they have considerably more space to play with now,,

Sorry to hear that, certainly not my intention. Tangs often get whitespot when stressed i.e. in smaller than suitable tanks, so its just a word of warning. Obviously many keep them in smaller tanks than yours to hopefully all will be well.:D

Hi if you see tangs in the wild they dont hide in rocks etc they swim all over the place. I have a 400 gallon plus tank and upto a wipeout i had 6 tangs in there and they never stopped swimming all over the tank. They probably are hiding in the rocks as they feel that they have no room to swim like they want to do. I am not flaming you at all just trying to teach you what space Tangs need, if you read in books and on the net they say 100 gallon for a Powder Blue but that is just for 1 fish not 5 or 6. Some Tangs can reach over 24 inch in length, and the Lipstick and Regal will reach over 12 inch as my Lipstick is about 12 inch now and still growing.HTH Twiggy:D:D

i agree,,,all my tangs at the moment are very small,,

and like i said in an earlier post,,as they grow and get too big, i will either pass them along to somewhere more suitable , or buy a 7x2x2 :D
personally going for the latter within the next 2 years

they are not shy, and don't hide in the rockwork, i am just saying what i have noticed over last few years,,definately don't shy away, will readily take seaweed from hand feed, (when showing off to someone who hasn't seen the tank before),

i don't take offence at any comments,,my fish haven't got nor had whitespot and has been at least 2 years since an outbreak, ( touch wood ),
i see all comments good/bad constructively

and i do know that with in 2 years, my tangs will outgrow my tank, i am sure that your 1 foot long tang, isn't at one with the wild in your tank tangman, nor any other tank.
we have to just keep them in the best possible setup that we can maintain and keep them healthy.

i don't offend easily, nor do i try to offend others.

Tank is settling in really nice now, everything looks lots happier in the new tank, than in the previous tank. all corals stretching up etc,,

more photo's in a couple of days when everything has had chance to get its bearings :D

Well I think you've done really well, all stock look healthy and happy. Look foward to the updated pics once those leathers have settled in more :D.
Well done.

Hi i was not trying to tell you off just trying to point out that Tangs do and will grow large and need the space to swim around,. I know they will not get the space that they have in the wild, but as you say while we have them in our care we try to give them the best. I am glad that you did not take offence as non was meant, and i am glad you have listened to what others and myself have said as this forum is for helping reefers not putting them off by cutting them down. I hope your Tangs do well and when you get the 7x2x2 they will love that. Also please keep posting pics of your tank as it grows better. Merry Xmas to you and your family. Twiggy:D:D

Thanks guys,

yes no offence taken,,,the only things looking sorry for themselves at the moment is the leathers,,,still sulking somewhat.

i will post some pictures as she progresses...hoping them white pipes will grow some coraline or summat though,,missus says it looks like the collosseum :D

still never mind, i have to move it again come feb time once my floor is done,,so it may be a good opportunity to order a 7x2x2 and drop it where my 6 footer is now,,

i am only going to need a tank, i have everything else, so shouldnt be overley expensive
