I've just been given a lamp ballast from a friend and was wondering if I could use it to add a couple of T5s to my tank. The ballast is labeled as a "Philips HF-R 280 TL5/PLL EII 220-240". I'm guessing that it will supply a pair of 80W T5s? Also, there's a DC input marked 1-10V - is this to dim it as required?

Cheers,
Mike

Just a little update...

My ballast is now happily lighting a pair of 80W T5s - one white and one blue :)

Yep, great, no need to buy the expensive 'Marine' ones :P

and the 1-10V is generally used to dim them if you require :)
