Hi Mike marine tank dont usually have covers on as its best left open to aid with PH and gaseous exchange. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Hi Mike what i meant was you dont need lids on a marine tank, as it can cause problems HTH Twiggy:D:D

I used to have mine with two glass sliding covers on. What I did was i got two large suction cups the ones to hold large pumps in place and siliconed them to the top of the glass at either ends. Was just enough to get hold of and run the glass back and forth to open and close, HTH.

If you can id go with Tangmans tip, you dont need the cover mate. IMO it will cause problems with PH stability. If your worried about carpet surfers make a net like i did out of some thin pipe (to make a frame) and tie comon garden netting to the frame using cable ties. Just a sugestion.

I removed mine because I kept getting too much condensation and salt creep on the glass covers.

My lights are ok, get a little salt creep on the reflectors but once a month remove them all wipe with damp cloth and ok again, just general care really.

Only when I removed my glass covers could I get my nitrates down to 0 . This was a tip I picked up from here a week after finding this forum.
