Missing Fish

Bought 4 Green Chromis & weekend and have not seen 2 of them for the last 2 days.. Looked all around the tank and in the rockwork I can see but no sign of them! If they are dead and can't find them what effect will this have? Have tested Nitrate today and this has not changed. :mad::mad:

Hi Like all new fish its strange for them so they hide some hide more than others, give it a few more days and i bet they come out. If they have died its Ammonia you need to test for as the decaying body produces it. HTH Twiggy:D:D

how big were they? I bought 5 really tiny ones from a local importer, 1 vanished presumed dead. So bought 2 more to make a shoal of 6. 2 more vanished one by one. the remaning 4 seem happy and have doubled in size. Keeping at 4 now for now unless I can find another 2 bigger ones to add at a later date.

wouldnt worry too much about the bodies if you have a good clean up crew they'll have taken care of it before it becomes an ammonia problem.

they can hide,so give them a few more days.if they are very small they should not make a lot of of difference if they have died,if you any crabs in the tank they will eat any dead fish they find before they become a problem.derek

In have two big ones for sale, one is caught other one being stubborn lol.

There about 2-3cm, Can I then add more in a while if they do not turn up then? So I need to look for the same size or will they fight? :)

yeah just add a couple more of similar size they should meet up with the others ok.

sounds a similar size to the ones I got. I wonder if they're a bit fragile when small.
