Hi All,

Well, my wallet needs a bashing.

Set up my 4x2x2, its up to temp & salinty is holding steady.

(Need to mount my halides)

So, my thoughts were this weekend to purchase some sand - both for the main display & sump.

Might also get some live rock (I assume ok to put in tank without lighting for the time being?)

Thinking about having 1inch in tank, & about 1.5inch in sump.

So, recomendations (I really like the tanks I have seen which show a almost white sand).

It seems to be taking forever to get this tank up & running - but as my good friend & adviser say's - (Eric), take your time (will have to listen to him a bit more - knows his stuff).

Hi mate,

The best sand white sand I have found is Seachem maridean (http://www.swishsand.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=48) really good stuff, however a little pricey than most. The other good pale sand is Aragamax Sugar Sized Sand 30lb bag (0.1 to 1mm) (http://www.swishsand.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=4).

For your sized tank you will need 60lbs of sand for a 1 inch bed. So if you opt for the maridean you'll need 3 bags and if you opt for the aragamax you'll need two. Of course I do have other choices which you'll see when you get on the site so the decissions yours.

As for the sump I would need your dimensions before I can calculate the amount of sand needed.

Regards

Ps I would opt maridean in the tank aragamax in the sump but thats just me.

Hi Kev,

Not far from me (HGTE), saw pic of your tank - very impressive.

My current tank is 40 gallon (80-40-50 (cm).

I am just in process (if I can find a electrician & joiner) of setting up my 4x2x2 (had a lot of help from Eric (Tangman).

If I am ever over your way, I would love to see your tank - always nice to get inspiration form those in the know.
