Hi All,

i have just done a water change!...the SG of the new water was 1.025 which to my knowledge is fine...but i dont heat the new water so the water temp is that of room temp...this is the method in which i always do my water change...i did roughly about a 10% change.

When i add the new water to my heated tank will this have an effect on the SG of the newly added water...i.e. increase it? .

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes SG will change depending on temp IIRC.

I always mix my water to 35ppt as salinity will not change with temp IIRC.

However I dont think you need worry unduly with a 10% change (just check it to be sure).

for the amount of water you are changing i would not worry about it.i changed 40 galls of water last week unheated, which is roughly 10% and there was no noticeable difference in the sg.derek
