Why is it when your due to go on holiday a disaster happens....:( Got home tonight checked my water level for top-up in the sump when I noticed a small trickle of water comming from the sump side, then within a flash crack then gush. S*** water everywhere. spent the last two hours draining what was left out of the sump. I have managed to bodge it for now. But I am away monday night for a week. ho hum it never rains but it pours...:(

Been there before Ian, Dropped a hammer into my sump once. It cracked the base but lucky for me it one cracked 1 compartment and was a slow drip. Hope you get things sorted. Put the reefcam on and I will keep an eye on your system :)

Hopefully that has raised a smile.

Oh no, not good. Hopefully it all hold together fine for a week. We accidentally dropped our return pump in our first sump and smashed the bottom. Unfortunately, the crack went all the way across two compartments and wouldn't hold any water. Ended up buying a new sump

Have a nice holiday, I'm sure it'll be fine ;)

Welcome to my world.

I'm sitting at my laptop, on holiday in the canaries........

I arrived wednesday lunchtime, it took less than 6 hours for the mobile phone to ring (My dad's looking after the tank while we are away)

"Are your lights supposed to be off?, your powerheads arn't working and it's quite cold in the tank, in fact..nothings working?"

Put yourself in my place, 2000ish miles away, stressing BEFORE the holiday about my father overfeeding the inmates.....less alone anything else going wrong.........

Turns out a pipe had sprung a very small leak, just enough to spray water over some electrics a couple of three feet away..what exactly are the odds!!!!

He sorted out some new extention leads etc etc and everythings ok now, lucky he went round when he did.

ah well, 3 days later and no more phone calls.........

p.s weather great, food great, view great

Relax - Enjoy!!

Wish I was there!!! Dont like flyng --

When I was in Holiday in Scotland I did not empty my skimmer cup. It then flooded over -- arghhh If that was not bad enough the scum was being sprayed over a power socket that in turn fused the full house. Luckily this in turn stopped my nephew watching TV. So the problem was fixed instantly :D

Enjoy your holiday and worry when you get home!!

A few years back I left my poor parents in charge of looking after my FOWLR system. They wrongly assumed that a leaking RO solenoid valve was part of my main aquarium, and promptly switched off the entire electricity supply to the tank thinking that would help. Bless.

Have a good holiday mate :)

Thanks All. I think it should be ok. just need to get a couple of pieces of glass cut and some silicone. Just hope the carpet freshens up a little  if not then it's a new carpet too.

I once dropped salt water on our new living room carpet. It was blue in colour. After 24 hours the carpet area turned red!!! My wife was not at all happy  God knows how this happened

Cheers James our carpet is red, so I guess I will see if mine changes to blue.
May have somthing to do with the acidity of the water:D
