Hi, nice to see a really active, friendly forum, especially one for such a volatile hobby as ours. I'm 25, i live in Dorset, have been keeping fish for about 2 years and i have 5 tanks. 3 are Tropical freshwater, which are under the control of my girlfriend, i tank contains 2 Yellow-belly slide terrapins. My pride and joy however, is my Rio 300 Reef tank, which takes pride of place in my living room.

I bought it secondhand from a local man, it has over 50kg of live rock (some i have added myself) and various corals including a Devils hand coral and a nice white Medusa coral.

Fish include:
2 breeding Tomato Clown fish (with a buble-tip anemone)
5 humbugs (which were given to me when i bought the tank)
1 blue cheek gobie
1 mandarin fish (spotted)

Hope i'm not boring anyone by writing too much for a first post, once i get typing i tend to forget to stop. I'm sure i'll be forever posting here as i am always making mistakes which i need advice to sort out. I'm looking forward to learning more about this fasinating hobby.

hi, nice to meet you. Sadly i have no recent pics. Just recovered from a really bad time with my reef tank. High nitrates and phosphates, along with the constant battle with temperature. I just can't keep the temperature in the green, and i can't afford any of the horribly expensive chiller units on the market at the moment. Plus, having seen the quality of the tanks from other members, i would be embarrassed to display pics of mine. I got some serious work to do go get to that level ;)

I remember my 1st Marine tank, It was a converted tropical tank. I was ecstatic when the first life began to grow within it – HAIR ALGAE

Little did I know then that hair algae, aptasia etc were a no no. They used to be my pride and joy!

Don’t be embarrassed to post pics, we all cannot afford Deltec Panorama aquariums, but we all enjoy the same passion that allows us to dream one day we can.
