Came home the other night to my common clowns spawning in my main tank. can't remove these and try raising them tho' they laid them on the base of a leather coral. I'm going to put a tile in next time and see if I can get them to lay on that, then i'll try raise them alongside my Clark's clowns in my little shed project.

Nice one, well done. My Percs have started spawning but haven't quite figured out that the eggs aren't food yet ;)

Usually if they are white they're either infertile or they've fungussed. They start off orange and go darker to brown and then silvery a day or 2 before hatching. The silver is the eyes in the egg casings.

Here's a pic of the eggs on day 4. They've gone darker and you can see eyes starting to develop.

They take 7 days to hatch. within 2-4 days after that they've laid a new batch.

yep getting them to spawn & hatch is the easy part. It's trial and error from there on. I'm getting there, ironing out mistakes i've been making.
The eggs in the pics are due to hatch tomorrow but I probably wont get any of those due to the eggs location. My shed breeding pair have eggs again which are due on thursday night and hopefully i'll have some luck this time. I've got them to 6 days old but then wipeout :(

just good parameters, good food and they take 3 years to reach breeding maturity. :)
They like a stable place to live, leather coral or terracotta plant pot. provide these and you're away.
Nice one
I have a pair of Maroon Clowns, looks like I will have to wait another year then.

this is great stuff. well done and keep the photo's coming as long as possible. my own green chromies keep laying eggs all up the side glass but they do not hatch as yours have. the other fish see them as food too quick. lenny

i have a pair of maroons, they lay every other week or so and hatch the eggs but never been able to rear them:mad: http://www.reefcorals.co.uk/forums/imagehosting/thum_191453ca9a4c1f57.jpg (http://www.reefcorals.co.uk/forums/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=90)
Hi P25aul.
Do you know how old your Maroons are?

Hi Kev i am not sure exactly, i have had them for around 4 years and the female was already much larger than the male, so i think that she must have been close to maturity then, its a shame they breed 1/2 days after the fry go, still its a good source of natural food for the tank.

good stuff,i had a pair of maroon clowns the female was over 5ins long.they used to spawn on a regular basis but never managed to raise the fry.i had to rehome them because the female was so aggresive and would attack any fish which came close to the anemone where the eggs were laid.i now have a pair of red sea clowns which spawn on a regular basis but the fry get eaten straight after hatching.derek
