Very difficult to keep alive, why not go for a flower anenome? or are you wanting a nem for your clowns??? If so a large leather coral is fine. :p
James
the reason why i whant a carpet anemone is because they stay at the bottom of the tank because i whant sps at the top and middle of the tank

Carpet anemones may be less prone to moving around than some other species of anemones, but like all species until they are happy and settle they WILL move around, and being large animals will cause a lot of disruption killing any sessile inverts they come into contact with, not to mention any fish they manage to catch..... and this includes a lot of Clownfish species!
They are best avoided - and to be honest I believe larger species like this should not even be imported as they get too big are are too disruptive for the majority of reef tanks. This applies to the majority of anemone species.
If you do insist on buying one be prepared for trouble later on....... and personally I would never even dream of putting such an animal with sps corals - they won't stand a chance if an anemone goes near them.

please remember nems need around 8-16mounth old tank. they are very very sensitive creatures and its a bit touch and go when it comes to them. if they do die they could cause a system wipe out. a
pyhtcoton (spell) leather will be fine or sumthing on the lines of that. also carpet nems grow MASSIVE!

hi, i would stay clear of carpet anemones especially if you intend keeping a lot of corals.they need a mature tank and if they are not happy will move about and kill most of your corals.i keep five anemones in my tank but have no corals in.i have no powerheads in my tank just closed loops so i dont have any problems with them getting sucked into them.derek

how do you know if your anemone is dying or in distress ? I have a purple tip bubble and he has gotten larger since I first got him, and I had a new setup.
I believe that anemone do best on the bootom of your tank or on a flat rock

Hi
I keep around 6 nems in my reef.
5 which are split BTA's and one which is a green carpet.
As said nems will wander if they are not happy with parameters (flow and light) but i totally agree they should not be in a tank that is under a year old as they need the stability of a mature tank.
I have around 70% sps in my reef and have had no problems with my carpet or my BTA's wandering but maybe i have been lucky.
I find that leaving a night light on in the tank stops my fish from accidentially wandering into the nem and being eaten, this way i have not lost a fish since adding the carpet.
Nems are not for everyone but i think they make a great addition to a reef as long as you know how to care for them.
Cheers
FJ
I did once hear or read a story about some guy who had a carpet nem that sat in one place for a good number of years. Then for no logical reason it did walk one night and caused a few problems.

everything must be spot on because bta are nortorious for moving about and when you have corals with them can cause a lot of problems.i have 5 in my tank 2rbta,1crispa and 2 magnifica and they never move more than an inch either way.derek
