Ratz Kalk Stirrer, I dont know the model but it cost £135 when new the size is 24 inch tall by 4inch tube diameter, in good working condition, not used now reason for sale. £60 PLUS P/P or collect from York. Eric PS It is the pressureised model so can be used without a sump.

Someone will get a bargain here. For anyone umming and ahhing, these kalk stirrers are excellent and highly efficient at producing kalk.

whts the pros and cons for one of these? wht they do ?

It produces a saturated CaOH (calcium hydroxide = kalk) solution for dripping into your water and maintaining calcium and alkalinity levels in balance. Have a read of Randy Holmes-Farley's article here: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rhf/index.php

Also kalk dripped at night can reduce any drastic pH swings that might occur during lights off, you have to experiment a bit and not drip too much in, otherwise you end up with a snowstorm effect in the tank as lots of chemicals precipitate out, completely messing your water chemistry.

Used correctly a kalk stirrer is an excellent tool for your reef.

Hey Tangman, see if you can find the model number so i can take a look see....you might have even sold this mate ;) unless its gone already...could it be the type 110?...might even get to use the 15kgs of kalk in the shed :)
