I have loads of chaeto in my sump, good quality and grows well (infested with bristle worms but I don't think thats necessarily a bad thing ;) ).

If anyone wants some, all I need is a stamped self addressed jiffy bag and I'll post a handful back to you (I have plenty of ziplock bags so no need to send one of these).

PM me if interested and I'll give you my address :D

You have PM, :D

Can I send something up in return? Do you need shells or some snails that I can send 1st class?

Ok what is cheato (I know its not someone that sings hee hee), and what does it do? do you need a sump or is it good for display tank also?

Chaetomorpha is a macroalgae that looks like a ball of spaghetti. It is good for nutrient export as it helps to soak up any excess phosphates and nitrates. I personally prefer it to calurpa as it doesn't put down roots so isn't as invasive and is also a little more stable so doesn't need to be lit 24/7. The only thing it really needs is a fair amount of flow to keep the ball spinning slowly in the water and good light. I have heard of some folks who have a small ball floating around in the water column of their main display tanks but it is pretty ugly and is better in a sump. Although, I have some stuffed down the back of the liverock in my nano with the filter blowing straight through it. But it is pretty well hidden from the front.

If I remember I'll take some pics of my chaeto "ball" tomorrow and will post them as I had no idea what it looked like until someone sent me some through the post ;)

Ok, here's a pic of some of my chaeto - a bit close up but hopefully you'll get the idea.
