Hi Carl Tetley has a chromis for sale its a steal at what he asking for it i am surprised its not been snapped up before now. Eels as you know are small when in the LFS but like all fish grow, also they are very good at escaping out of the tank and end up on the floor at the back of the cabinet. Some of the ribbon eels may be suitable but not being up on them i cant say for sure. If you do a google and find out what size they reach when adult will give you an idea what you up against:D. hey, gr8 to get them hooked young, - I was thinking about an eel myself but i'd want a huge one! - so i ave to wait for the floor to be concreted before i can fill the tank up... and then i'll probably just fill it with sarcophyton anyway *sigh*,.... but, ... it just came to me in a flash of lightning! - would a snake goby not do the trick, i have seen them slithering in and out of rocks and caves in other tanks and they dont seem to grow too large for a AM chromis. just a thought. i'd have one anyday. they're cool as. ask someone on here for a pic i bet they're popular. (thats the closest eel-like fish i can think of - worth a try?)
good luck

further to my last comment i think its this:
Pholidichthys leucotaenia
although i read that they do grow quite large. is it also called and engineer goby? they're different colours as babies and change as adults. look funky tho. lol
