Hello as many of you know im a newbie. If one has several fish different spicies, inverts and corals and all eating different things eg herbivours and carnivours, plankton eaters and some fish needing more feeds than others, What do you do ???

Do you prepare different foods and then feed to the tankmates at different stages eg let the wrasse eat first and then put food in for the corals.

Or do you just make one large cocktail of food and feed the tankmates 3x a day with this cocktail of food?

Sorry if this a stupid question but none of the books I have answer this.

Thanks Mike

I tend to feed a variety of foods and rotate on different days. Just mix it all together and let them choose.

I feed at least twice a day. Mysis, Angel & Butterfly Mix, Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Cyclops, Cyclopeze, Ocean Nutrition Flake (3 different types), Live brine as a treat soaked in zoecon, Red Plankton, Green Plankton, Baby brine shrimp, Marine Mix and Julian sprungs for my dwarf angels.

There's probably more in my cabinet i've missed :D I like to give them a bit of variety with their food.

Sometimes just a cube of Mysis for a day then let them pick around the tank.

Other days, Mysis, angel&butterfly mix, cyclops-eze, squid and some flake mixed up with some chromaplex and zooplex.

Anybody buy fresh stuff off the fish counter to feed their inmates?

1-2 blocks of mysis/bloodworm a day and every other day some algae also flake in between.

Feed small amounts 4-6 times a day

I try and mix the frizen food for our tank mates and offer different combinations 2x each day - usual choice is out of mysis, brine, krill, octopus and green marine (afterall we would hate to be fed the same meal day in day out). I also feed a quality marine flake 2x a week to ensure that they all get a balanced diet with all the vitamins required. Then as an occasional treat the tang gets some algae on a lettuce clip.
secret is not to overfeed though and watch what they enjoy most

Hi

A good variety of foods is the best way to feed your fish.

I have a blend of 4 different flakes which are fed to my fish 4-6 times per day.

Every second day i feed a mixture of marine mix, brine shrimp, mysis, krill pacifica, lobster egg, red and green plankton, cyclopeeze.

I will be making my own food at the end of this month whichg will be bought from a fish monger and blended with the above with a vitimain added as well.

I also add nori for the tangs every few days and feed my nems once every week with prawn.
