Hi All,

purchased a goby on saturday and he/she semed fine...always out in the open and taking seemed to be feeding well...especially on the mysis...

but since tuesday i aint seen him/her...just dissappeared

now im hoping that its maybe paired up with the pistol shrimp and is living in one of the caves with the pistol shrimp...but i would have thought it would have come out at feeding time to grab food for him and the pistol!...unless theres enough flow around cave so uit doesnt need to go looking!

not seen any remains of dead body or body parts around...

any thoughts?!?!

IME shrimp gobies are absolute masters of hide and seek. When my old Diagonalis was paired with a tiger pistol I didn't see them for weeks at a time, then they'd pop up in a new cave. Seem to move about a bit. If they have paired up you might find they are laying low and sods law will have them at the back of the tank where you can't see ;)

it is quite possible he is obtaining food which is been blown in behind the rockwork so he might come out in a few weeks time.derek

Was he in the lfs for a while before you bought him or was it a new addition? Reason I ask is that I got one and it died after about a week in the tank, but that was eating fine at first.

not sure how long was in lfs...

how would this affect the fish?

by the way...still no sign of the goby...and im sure i would have seen it by now as i only have a small tank!!...im thinking it must have died and CUC had an expensive meal!!!

My yellow watchman goby had disappeared from my tank as well, it use to sit on the sand at the back of the tank but not seen it for a week. Me and adam move the live rock around to see if it was hiding but no sign. :(

We think it must of jumped out when we have had the lid open and the dogs have eaten it as no sign of it around the area around the tank.... bizare

My tank came with a pink spotte shrimp goby. As i bought it second hand. The person who i bought it off thought the goby was dead as they hadn't seen it for 6 months. But when we were putting the LR in to the buckets i found him.
Thanks,
Luke
