A bit OT I know, but had a great afternoon at Loch Doon reservoir in the Galloway Forest Park. Thought I'd share some pics with you guys and show you just how pretty Scotland is and why I love it so much ;)

Hi Gilly very nice pics and i am sure your right when you say you love it. I have had some really nice holidays in Scotland i used to go either to Oban or Fort William in the 70s. Also i once stayed in a B B on the banks of Loch Lomond i cant remember what it was called but i spent my second honeymoon there. You cant beat the views all though we have some good views in Yorkshire as well. Eric:D

Thanks for sharing,

Yes, you all need to come visit Scotland :D I wouldn't move away for all the money in the world, even the offer of a tropical island to call my own wouldn't make me move away permanently. We've roamed all over Scotland and sometimes forget that not all the stunning scenery is in the highlands. This forest park is only a 45 min drive from our house.

great pics.. what camera are you using?

I borrowed my dads Canon 400d this weekend and got some great shots of the kids. Unfortunately the tank pix came out crap. need to do lots of tinkering with the settings I think :D

The pics were taken with my old Canon EOS 300d so your dad's 400d will probably take way better pics ;)

They were all true holiday snaps too - full auto mode and standard 18-55mm lens. Nothing special at all and no tweaking either. Honestly, anyone could've taken these :p

Tank pics on the other hand are another matter altogether. I'd highly recommend you shoot the pics in RAW as you can really play with them afterwards to get the colours right. Can hide a multitude of sins

cheers. yeah I took stock ones of the kids with full auto and they came out great. DOF was spot on. I cant get the cam to switch off flash in macro mode it just doesnt seem to let you so everything comes out a mess. will have a bit more of a play about with it, seems to be more control with my old olympus hehehe got a half decent shot of my flame angel, colours are great but its out of focus (doh!) I think I'll have more of a mess around with the settings :D

He has a 300d still too that he was selling, impressed with the shots you've got.
