Yes some flame scallops flash, But no you won't be able to keep one in a 20g, Unfortunatley they are almost impossable to keep alive in any sized tank.

They don't require light and need a constant supply of food

I think Bigfoot got one from Marinetech IIRC. Perhaps you could drop him a PM to see how his is getting on.

Hi,

A very diffucult task, keeping a flame scallop. Most last about 12 months, some a lot less. Another choice IMO.

He never got it from us, I do not condone the sale of these animals I'm afraid. They should be left in the wild as they are far too difficult to keep long term.

I have had one for a lot longer than most people can keep a gonipora :p

Why they die is because most systems strive to keep very low nutrients in their water column. If you have a rcich flow of nutrients then it is possible to keep these animals as well as some of the hard LPS corals alive IMO.

I got mine about 6 weeks ago, they do like to be in a dark cave, I put mine in a dimly lit area and he promptly swam back into a cave in the front of the tank, where he's been ever since, I feed him on a squirt of live photoplankton every day, he's fine at the moment, but I wouldn't get another, if you get one chances are he will find a cave to hide in and you won't see a lot of him.
they do have a bright blue electric flash, the only time I saw it was when he was preparing for a move.
