Thanks

I would have thougt so, if you could keep the params stable.

Go for a lower light one like a deresa.

would agree as long as the lighting is correct and water parimeters are stable.derek

As above, think you'd struggle for light with anything like a maxima. A small derasa should do fine though ;)

Hi Dan

PM sent. My Deresa will be going into this setup shortly, and I am pretty sure it will thrive. As said earlier in this thread, Tridacna Deresa in not a demanding clam in respect of lighting requirements.

There is a down side to this though, whilst the colour of T Deresa is nice to look at, it is nothing compared with the colours of the likes of T Maxima.

the thing to keep an eye out for is hyper extension of the mantle

the clam will do this if theres not enough light ,keep an eye on it

and of course it will grow pretty big,

mine is 24 inches and still growing

although its a fair few years old

check out www.clamsdirect.com theres some good info in their forum. its an american site that sells clams over there so hope it's ok to post, cant really see it being a danger to our sponsors?

www.clams.co.uk has some nice ones for sale and some info on there too..

Daniel Knopp has an excellent book on clams, it is called "Giant Clams", the publisher is Dahne Verlag and the ISBN number is 3-921684-23-4.

It is available from Leicestershire, I won't say who as they are not sponsors.

I would have no hesitation in popping a Deresa in my D+D nano. Flogged my clam a month back, what a shame!
