sexing firefish

just 1 more quick question, does anyone know how to sex a red firefish? been searching the net and asked all my LFS and no one seems to know.

i have 1 but would like a pair if poss.

Hi,I have a pair but the only difference I can see is that the female is more slender. I remember reading somewhere that you can tell by the notch between their dorsal fins, IIRC it's supposed to be a more pronounced V shape in the males.Looking at mine though I just don't see it.Mine were sexed by accident in November when 2 of my 3 fish, the 2 males, had a right bust up after 15 months together, what a mess it was too. Happily both survived after separation in to different tanks.Sorry I can't help further.Campbell

that was the only thing i came up with was the notch behind the dorsal. like you said its nearly impossible to tell the diffrence.

i was in my LFS ahd they had 5 in, i stood there for ages trying to spot any diffrence between them. only thing i came up with was the spots on their cheeks......dunno if thats just their individual markings???
