View Full Version : Bully bangii?

Evening all,
been sat watching my tank for the past week curious as to why my tomatoe clown only really appears at dinner time. Originally he was very active in the tank and was always happy swimming against the flow. At the time I had a yellow tang and a scotter blenny. I have since taken the tang out of the tank and have added the bangii, dwawf angel and lastly a yellow goby. I have heard a strange noise coming from the tank and tonight realised it's possibly the bangii shaking it's tail to intimidate the other fish. (angel been near at the time) The bangii has located himself in the bottom front corner of my tank with the clown hiding behind the rock. He does peek out but soon reverses when I'm assuming he sees bangii. Had a search on the 'tinternet but can't seem to find any useful information as to wether the bangii is possibly causing the clown not to appear. If so I'm wondering if a move around of the rock will make it less comfortable in his corner and encourage the clown to move when food isn't on offer?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I doubt this. Bangaii's can be extremely aggressive towards their own kind but I have three in my tank and they leave the other fish alone. That said, marine fish are unique, what one fish does in one tank, another will do the opposite in someones elses.

Hi,

As above really, I would have thought the clown would take no c**p from the Bangaii.

Thanks for the input.

Must be something else upsetting the clown, maybe having an off week.:o At least he's still eating and looks healthy. Just a thought really.:)

they can be aggressive when in a group.i had a group of 5 2 paired off and would harass the others if they came anywhere near.they never bothered any of the other fish in the tank.the other 3 became quite timid and they just hung about in the other corner of the tank.most clowns can handle themselves he might just be having an off day.derek
