View Full Version : My BIGGER LPS Dominated Reef Tank

I ordered a new tank yesterday unplanned after a somewhat disastrous day... My Betta Lifespace 680 decided to spill it's guts on me after a split base.

http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z472/Nano_newb/DSC_0003-3.jpg

After a hectic day of running around trying to secure the safety of my livestock, clearing up the mess and carnage I'm left with a pile of rocks in a container of water and another container with corals in it. This is my beloved 680 as it stood last week.

http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z472/Nano_newb/DSC_0017-3.jpg

The new tank measures 36x36x24 and is a Seabray custom built tank, centre weir, sump and a matte black finish. That's about all I can remember about the tank as I phone World of Fishes in a bit of a daze and said "I need a sumped tank as fast as you can get me one". Hats off to Daryl at WoF, he sorted me out with quotes within a few hours and tank will arrive next week with me (Thursday).

My plan for the tank is to add my existing fish and existing LPS coral stock. I'm going to carry over my current equipment except the lighting which I'll need to replace. I'm undecided on whether to go down the LED route.

I'll add some pictures once the tank arrives, any advice on the lighting from would be welcome.

Current stock I'll be transferring over

Peacock Wrasse (Macropharyngodon Bipartitus)
Chalk Basslet (Serranus Tortugarum)
Pair of Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion Percula)
Dracula Goby (Stonogobiops Dracula)
Flymo Blenny (Salarias Fasciatus)
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus Exquisitus)
Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides Dimidiatus)
Bi colour Chromis (Chromis Margaritifer)
Scarlet Hawkfish (Neocirrhitus Armatus)

thats outstanding, I'm surprised you never had coral warfare trouble in there, it is crammed to the square inch with corals, beautiful tank, I really like that, great Job there.

I know Ray, I have to create something even better now so the pressure is on.

Thanks, was heart breaking ripping it all apart. I only had one issue with chemical warfare, I put 2 fancy canes next to each other and one killed a few heads on the other. Otherwise no issues.

lovely tank. looking forward to pics of the new tank as well.

Cheers mate.

What a bummer mind you it had to go on the plastic so I wouldn't of had the cash to buy it from you.

Could have paypaled it mate on through plastic

good luck on the new tank and shame about the bad luck, but hopefully some good will come of this, like finding £20 in the street this week, :)

The cabinet came today, last two days I've been messing around trying to remove a patio door with no luck. Removing the handle plus brute force worked in the end.

-Aaron-
12-30-2011, 03:10 PM
Vortech mp10's mate. Really need 40s but until I have the funds they'll have to run full blast.

Macca
12-30-2011, 03:12 PM
Im sure if seen them before at an LFS, are they quite noisey?

-Aaron-
12-30-2011, 03:13 PM
On full there's a slight noise. Were running at 70% on my last tank and nigh on silent.

ray
