Hello, My thanks finally being delivered 2morrow. I have Salt water already mixed in Large Water Bottles.

Question when the tanks on the stand and sump in place, can I add live rock, live sand and caulpera, to the system straight away, or does the live sand and caulpera have to wait ?

It will take circa 3 days to fill my tank with RO water - Will have enough water in tank to stop live rock from drying out.

I will be using 30kg cheap playpit sand,
25kg crushed coral sand,
10kg of live sand

Will have 10kg of Live Rock.
40Kg of live rock being delivered on Friday

Sorry for asking a silly question
Mike

A guess would be - caulpera requires light and nutrients to thrive. Your setup will not have the latter so I would not think it would be wise to add right away. Live sand and rock will be ok in my opinion. Hopefully we will get other opinions.

I think you should put the live rock and sand in straight away as this will give your tank the kick start it defenatly needs. As for the algae I wouldnt put it in yet as you will have no light and the tank hasnt cycled properly yet so it may die off and give you more problems.
hope this helps cheers Dal

Give all your sand a really good wash before you put it in your tank.

Take it ourside, shove it in a large plastic bin and give it a good seeing too with your garden hose, keep turning it over until the water runs clear.

Aparanty if you put in cured live rock and your live sand you should be able to start populating straight away... but I wouldn't be 100% happy so would still wait for a while to ensure everything is OK.
