well over the last few weeks one of my leather corals as been sulking i have moved it to various location and it is still shriveled up.
i had a close look at it and i think the stalk id breaking as it is really short
any ideas on what has caused this?
Are you sure its braking up? I know my leathers close down every now and then, and can spend some time closed up, although this is not frequent, it is quite normal in my opinion.

well the stalk (the white bit) use to be around 7cm its now roughly 2cm and it keeps falling of because every time i reattach it the stalk breaks agai

Got any pics of it callum.
Can you see anything in the middle of the stalk? Shells etc. You can get worms and snails that will burrow into the flesh ot leathers causing them to break up.

No not at the moment. With a potential bug being inside the flesh of the leather the water wouldn't affect it.

yeah id agree with kev, they do close and sulk for some time, esp after w/changes if your moving it around it wont settle and still sulking, also have you checked your nitrates too?

As above,
They are funny little blighters, can "sulk" for ages.
Moderate flow, and lighting, leave in peace, should come back bettter than ever.

Really funny things leathers. I have a few frags in my main tank all are fine however one just closes up in my main tank BUT loves being in my sump, so thats where its staying :D

Callum, has a snail or summats knocked it off? Might have been whats irritating it if it has been doing it for a while.
Does your clown goby go in it often as well? as that could be another factor.

no the clown goby has made home in the other leather
iam pretty sure it just fell off as i reattached the stalk with putty to keep it steady but the stalk just broke again and now its lost in the rock work:(

i dont no mate might have to tooth pick the stalk to a very very secure place where if it falls it can land at the front of the tank so i dont have to look around the tank for a chance to grab it
but my other leather is doin fine thank god:D
Gotta agree with all of above. Leave it be and stop moving it around, let it get used to new home and see if it reattaches to the LR. If still no joy then a closer inspection of the stalk could be called for.
Mark:)
