Hi, need some advice about my Duncan corals, had them just over a week and they have been thriving but I have been out today and come back to find them looking like they have brought there food back up and not open like they have been, is this normal or should I be worried?

If you can give some more info like tank params what flow and lighting you have etc if you have any readings of nitrate and phosphates etc as it sounds like a water quality problem.Twiggy

It could be as above or it could be that they are sprouting new heads as sometimes when they do thisthey can look rather bad, but this should only last a few days.

It also wouldnt hurt to check the water conditions as this could be the cause, thats nitrate phosphate kh calcuim and magnesuim

I checked the water and everything ok, the Duncans are back open fully and looking good, thought it was strange, all my other corals looked fine and usually as soon as my water is slightly out I notice by some of my corals going pale,White with the stress but everything else was fine, trying to add some photo's but struggling.

glad to hear all is ok mate, they do sometimes have a off day, also when they poop, sometimes after a water change and as I said before when they are creating new heads I had a customer once panic and frag them only to find it was just sprouting new heads DOH!!

I had just done a water change, because I was amazed how much they opened up and stretched towards the water flow as I put the new water in.
