Hi all,
I'm trying to get pipe fittings for my already drilled tank hole are 3" (75mm) but none of my lfs seem to be able to supply tank connectors in this size.12847
Tmc's web site says about Adaptaflex Tank Connectors - Easy, push-fit, self-sealing gasket for inserting pipe through tank sides, but not sure if this is what i need and then smaller tank connector.
Brain hurts :(

tmc's list of fittings
I got the next size down...binned the gaskets and used silicone to fix them.
got my fitting from B&Q

A little tip dont use TMC fittings as there imperial sizes and are a mare to get adapters to go to metric also no other imperial fittings will join to them. The grade for marine is VDL which most LFS stock they are a uniform metric size which are solvent weld, be careful if you use push fit fittings as most have a steel ring inside that will rust with salt water and cause problems in a marine tank. The tank connecters you want to buy are the ones with a lock ring on to lock the pipe at any distance as it goes through the connecter making it easy to adjust the length on a twin pipe system. When fitting the tank connecters use the rubber washer on the inside and the plastic one on the outside with the big nut on the outside, and dont use silicone as some do as it does not give and this is when you can crack the base of the tank, the rubber washer as some give in it and will allow the pipe to be moved without cracking the tank base. Hi Guys
Haven't called paul yet but did get an idea from another lfs, if i were to get a piece of perpex/acrylic cut with holes for smaller pipework 2" and silicon it into place on inside (which would be in the weir section).
Thoughts please
Simon

I was told (after a very long thread on UR last year)never put rubber washers wet side as the rubber will perish over time.I went with silicone like others and have never had any leaks or cracks and I have to
remove one pipe everytime I have to replace the filter sock.

Hi i have used the washers for as long as they have been made and never had a moments bother with them, i have forgotten how many tank connecters i have fitted in my 30 odd years i have been keeping marines but it must be in the 1000s and never had 1 leak. I have however seen quite a few that have been siliconed that have leaked as they are ok if not moved but silicone wont stick to abs plastic so there fore it wont seal. I will admit in the beginning some of the rubber washer were made of inferior material and did perish but that was soon remedided by the ones they have now.I know that John Statton who started and owned Fit Filtration used them and Paul Everton who now owns Fit Filtration uses them and it was John who got me into useing them many years ago. Certain tanks used inferior grade rubber not up to the job and had two holes in the bottom feeding the external filter, after a year or so they perished and leaked meaning a complete tank strip down to repair
