Im looking to get a sponge for my tank, I think that an addition is a great way to add colour to the tank.
Will they be safe from the likes of angel fish and tangs.
What are the easy ones to keep,
I know that they have to be kept out of air, or the areas exposed to air will die, and that they are filter feeders.
And what are your advice / opinions on keeping them ?

I've always thought about trying a nice orange or blue sponge but must admit to having chickened out. Can be difficult to keep and be rather nasty when they die polluting your tank. Although I know that lots of people have great success with them.
Sponges are also on the diet of most large angel fish hence the reason angel specific foods are sponge based. Something to think about if you want an angel in the future and the reason we can no longer have one.
Had no experience with them. A lot that I have seen in LFS have been covered in algaes with white patches where the flesh dies off, this has always put me off.
I have had a few small sponges come in as freebies on live rock, but all have died off after a period.

This is a light loving sponge that prefers moderate light. :)
You can look back and see that this sponge has been in the tank for about a year I think.

Very nice. Blue sponges have always attracted me but with the emperor I don't think its worth chancing it. Pity :o
