Hi Folks,
Just on my weir, and small tuft one one rock.
Not a big problem at the moment.
Flow about 36x tank volume.
Think it may be down to feeding frozen, but as my Regal Angel loves his mysis and angel food, bit stuck for idea's.
Is there a member of CUC which will help, and not starve if hair algea dies back.

Or get yer hands in and pull it all off manually.
Sometimes it takes root in the corraline, and critters will have a job getting it all off. If you manually rip it out you will ususally get the corraline aswell meaning it won't come back again.

Cheers Adam,
The weir seems to be where it takes hold (on the glass).

red tipped hermits will do you a job but wont clear the problem completely so the best way is to get your hands wet and tear it out!
unless you have a collection of ferocious tangs?

i have to cultivate loads of alage to keep my bunch of tnags happy! a slight sign of the stuff and bang its gone but that only happened when i put a sick emperor (HILLE) in the tank!
do you thaw for frozen stuff first? have you got and traces of PO4 in your system and is it a dead spot in the tank?
sorry loads of questions!

I have always found it amazing that such a small amount of thawed H2O could contain enough elements to create a algae spike!
though this hobby never ceases to amaze me thats for sure!

I never thaw my frozen food then rinse it, i tip it all in and i dont have a algae problem. Neither do i use Rowaphos pah horrible stuff turns all your tank orange and makes aright mess staining everything. Mind you i do have 6 ferocious Tangs that keep it at bay.:D Eric
