Awww shucks, I'm blushing...and still reeling from Ian's very loud post :o
Thanks everyone. Out of my 3 tanks this is the one that I'm happiest with, I just love to sit staring at it. It doesn't seem like yesterday since I started the 11g but that's been 2 years last Monday since it was first set up
Posh is most definitely not a fish to be messed with. We play a game every day called chase the fingers cos she's more intent on biting me than eating the flakefood. But I wouldn't swap her for anything ;)
The wee fish in the leather is a Green Clown Goby, he's spent time in all 3 tanks at one point or another. Great character but he's finally at home, I hope.
I have another goby in the tank, a Priolepsis, but he hides down the back (upside down as they do) with my serpent star. He's as cute as anything though, wished he came out more.

Really love this tank, full of life and looking very healthy.
I have to say, that is the best nano I have seen. I would vote for that one as tank of the month - something different.
I too would vote this nano for "tank of the month". Beautiful set up.;) :)

Theres an idea Gilly how about a Nano of the month now you are an adviser you could arrange it, what do you think i am sure it would take off as there are quite a few on this site with them.:D Eric PS i am sure James would do the work to put it on the board.:)

Gilly, I don't have enough words in my vocabulary to describe that Nano. I am sat here looking at it and I am lost for words.
But let's start with Fantastic, grab a thesaurus and go from there.

Another query on the D+D nano - can you tell my wallet is nearly out of my pocket?
Are the quiet systems to run, or do they rattle and hum away?
What is the filtration system like? Do they have a skimmer?
Do you reckon the 12 gall nano would be ok for a couple of horsies?
Oh and another, I understand that they have some cooling fans? Are these effective?

Just noticed your post Kev, sorry.
They are very quiet. The part of the hood with the lights is enclosed and to keep the lights cool there are two 80mm PC fans. These only run when the lights are on and are the only thing that makes a bit of noise but its a just a low hum. There's no skimmer, no need for one really. I believe there is a skimmer in the states that fits but imho its not worth it.
The rear sump is in three compartments. I have a bit of foam in the first compartment, liverock rubble in the middle and the end compartment has the heater and return pump (I'm using a Maxijet 1200 cos I broke the stock pump :o ).
I think the 12g would probably be ok for horses but I haven't actually seen one in the flesh. They are very nice wee systems though. I also have very little in the way of evaporation which is good and the surface skimmer attachment for the sump entry is great.

Thanks Gilly, I think I have almost made my mind!
....sorry Gilly, another question. Does the system come with a heater / stat? Or would I need to buy one?
Is there room in the filtration compartments to house a heater / stat, or is this kept in the main tank?
Thanks
Promise not to ask too many more questions!:)

Once again fantastic tank Gilly!
Kev,
You will need to but a heater either 75 or 100w is more than enough. I have the heater in C.3.
Gillybaby
04-07-2007, 10:06 AM
As per DC, heater in c.3 for me too, some put them in c.1 though, it is very versatile ;)
And you can ask as many questions as you like Kev :D
Thanks Gilly. Much appreciated. Just trying to decide now on 24 or 12g.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments on my tank :o
And thanks to you Gilly for sharing the pictures. I have to blame you for the next dent in my wallet!:D ;)
Gillybaby
04-07-2007, 10:19 AM
lol that's fine, I can handle being blamed for that. In comparison to the dent my b/f's blaming me for at the moment, that's nothing
(picked up and paid for our new car yesterday :D )
Lol, enjoy the car. Hmmm, is there a way of installing a nano stsyem in a vehicle?
Another question.....are the D+D nano's acrylic? Do they easily scratch when cleaning the glass (acrylic)?
I think I may be opting for the 24g one!
Here we go again! Are the lights on an individual circuit, so that I could install a timer?
Thanks again.
Gillybaby

Hi Kev, enjoying the car very much. Off to take it for a drive in the sun ;)
The D&D's are glass and I've had no problem cleaning mine with a small magfloat. At least I haven't noticed any scratches. The only gripe I have is that the as front is slightly bowed its more awkward to clean but its not that bad.
The lights have their own plug so you can use a timer, I have. Both 36w bulbs are powered through the same plug. The slight downside is that the moonlight leds are also powered from this plug so when the main lights go off on the timer so do the moonlights. So you do lose their effect. I'm not really that bothered myself but I know others have re-wired the leds to a separate plug.
Thanks Gilly. You know, I think thats all my questions answered. I bet I think of more.
Thanks again.
Gilly, another question for you. Does the surface skimmer weir always stay in place?

Superb nano Gilly, real nice job. I have an NC24, only 8weeks old. Was wanting to add some nice fluro hammer like you have, but was told the lighting was not strong enough, how you finding yours mate?
Also, the coral on the sand all touching like that, with it being Lps, GSP and zoas they all ok? I thought GSP had a prety good "sting" to it and would kill most stuff?
Flow wise, you just running the MJ1200?
