Turning my sump into a frag tank, I have 5000lts of flow from main tank over flow, skimmer & reactors but need some focused water movement over the coral area. I’m thinking that a spray bar will probably be the best way go.

Two options I have are upgrading the return pump and t’ing that off to the spray bar or using a separate powerhead to run it. Any one currently using / used one in the past like to give me some info on the best size pipe to use, holes to drill etc. Sump is only 18 inches wide and has about 8 inches of water above the plenum.

Cheers

Matt, I am sure Chris at the reefranch uses a spray bar for his main water flow in his stoney coral tank. Best PM him.

problem with spray bars is getting the holes right. as in have to many very little flow and too little could damage the pump / put it under pressure. start off with a few and if its realy coming out fast add a few more. :)

Hi Matt. If you are going to fit a spray bar make sure you drill a hole in the very end of the pipe cap, as if you dont you will get stagnant water collecting in the end and causing problems. HTH. Eric
