Hi Nikki As there are quite a few different Urchins what sort were you thinking of, it would be a good idea to PM James as he deals in such things and will advise you which is the best for you.:D Eric

I may be able to help here as I have a Large pincushion, Rock urchin, pencil urchin and Longspine Urchin :D
For me they have been easy to keep they need good grazing so live rock is a must, and you have to be careful when cleaning the tank that you dont get spiked, there a pain to get out....
Having read about them they require good water quality and if anything slightly higher Salinity, than slightly lower...
the only issues i have is that my large pincushin likes camoflaguing itself as a result it attachs debris to itself with little suckers but he keeps picking up crabs and small bits of coral which is funny.....
My advise is to try one there really unusual and from what i have seen Quite hardy and cheap too..

yeah agree quite easy to keep but i got rid of mine for 2 reasons
1, move stuff around and crabs/snails get stuck to it also any frags sometimes get attached if not secure
2, stripped coraline off LR and left it all white looking
Not sure of the benfits ofkeeping one tbh if any?
