Collected the tank from Mr Tang and hasnt had it up and running yet. The glass needed a good clean and the silicone was not in the best state so we decided to give it a overall.

Managed to chip the tank slightly just on the bottom 10mm glass right in the middle but on the outer edge, the chip wasnt to bad and is not on a a part where the glass is taking the strain just to be safe we decided to cover it up

Heres two pics after i got all the silicone off and the blue cover for the weir off, next job is meths and a bloody good clean and black silicone time, Then were not looing forward to scraping all the blue paint off and repainting it with gloss black

Do you ever stop m8, be careful when you re silicone it as it wont stick to the old silicone so it needs cleaning off and cleaning with Meths. I did my tank back with matt black and it only took 2 coats after letting it dry overnight. Twiggy

Ah Jason thought he had done it when he got it out of the car, Every little scratch he sees he think the tank will break but with 10mm glass no chance weighs a bloody tonne

I am taking it you had 25mm drain and what sized return pump did you use see the tanks only drilled in one place

Had to offset the dusro set up as it was very tight and did not like the bend in the pipe, just got the air valve to do

Its not set in place yet just doing a dry build, could do with another 2 x 45 deg fittings for the pipe going in to the sump got 2 x 90 deg but trying to stay away from them

Hi Kev looking good m8y i would not glue the fittings in the weir as they will be easier to move if not glued, you could silicone them so it can be taken to bits if you ever need it out. Twiggy

That's come on nicely mate, although I'm not too sure about the idea of fitting double windows in the main tank as seen in the last photo???
Or is it just the reflection ??? heh heh

reefergeek
04-11-2011, 12:08 PM
Shows how daft the house is built with bloody tiles on 40k to get them converted to brick i think we can live with it lol

ShyTalk
04-11-2011, 03:55 PM
Built with tiles?? Not seen that before, but I mean you tank looks like it has a window in the front, obviously its the reflection but it looks funny...well it made me chuckle!
did I mention i've just bought a very similar system?
Be a while off getting running yet, need to save up for lights etc, but very similar looking and size wise, just not such thick glass as yours, looks like a good strong tank that of yours,
Reminded me of that old joke...
Two fish in a tank....one says to the other...do you know how to drive this thing?
heh heh...I'll get me coat...

Think i could do with the stuff your on lol

Your tank doesnt have to be up and running right away just take your time, i started 6 years ago with a rio 180 and 3 power heads got set up for around 300

This tank is a members on here hes not to sure about all the plumbing so i got him to drop it off to get it set up for him, took me ages get get the 30odd tubes of silicone he went over the joints again with the plonker lol

Got the tank broken down this morning and took it to its home, was a bit of a chew moving the old tank first but we have got there in the end, So far the tank has sliced my finger twice the bloody thing, Got 125 ltrs in it at the min and got some more salted on the brew the local lfs wanted £80, Tank is just about level will get some pics up soon
