Hi,
Have just been pointed to this forum by Steve at Coral Cultivations (always excellant service - told you I'd say that;) ) and seems a pretty friendly board (unlike some others!) so here goes the intro bit.
Still pretty much a newbie to Marines (just over a year now). Started after visiting a local fish shop and being impressed wiith nano set ups, space and initial cost implications being factors in the decision taken to take the plunge and go salty with a 10g after a fair bit of research.
Ran the 10g for 9 months or so (a few mistakes along the way - not always my fault - honest) but overall went pretty well.
Now transfered over to around a 30g set up, after spotting a tank that SWMBO liked as well (now if I can only find a six footer that she likes:) )
Currently slowly building the stock up after a heater went faulty and cooked the few inhabitants that had been transfered across, a couple of survivors made it through being boiled.
Current inhabitants are of course Nemo (having young daughter an obvious first choice of fish) and recently added a bicolour (picked up from a reefer shutting down his tank) a couple of rocks covered in polyps, star polyps and a couple of rocks with mushrooms on + plus some unidentified as yet freebies appearing out of the live rock and various snails (courtesy of board sponsors) and hopefully if James makes it to Hull tomorrow a few more interesting addiitions to the clean up crew.
Oh, and if I ever can get a decent picture with my poor camera an unidentified crab - only seen it briefly twice, stays well hidden and at present doesn't seem to be eating anything it shouldn't. If anybody has any clues as to ID from this poor discription i'd be gratefull - it has bright purple claws (not sure if pointy or rounded) and brown legs with either creamy stripes (or possibly mottled), nearest I could get to it so far is a flat rock crab, though the eyes don't look right.
Many thanks
Kev.
