Do Clarkii clowns NEED an anenome...I always thought not but read on a site they are a type of clown that DO need an anenome.:confused:

it is perfectly acceptable to keep clowns without anemones.
if they want to host and there is no anemone they well host in another coral such as leather corals

Hi,
As above, clowns do not need nem, and a nem should not be considered unless you are able to provide for its needs.
Clowns, will choose just about anything to host in. Mine think my mushroom is the best thing since sliced bread. :)

As stated above, they deffo can live very happily without a nem. :)

also agree ,my pair of maroon clowns live in a mushroom colony one week and flit often without paying rent to anything they fancy,you can tell who the boss of that relationship is.

my Clarkii lives fine without one... tried so many times with anenomes but just cant get them to survive :(

most clowns can live without an anemone,clarki clowns are the only clown that will host in all the clownfish anemones.
