There are a couple of things on my live rock I would like to know a bit more about if any of you resident experts can help. :)

The first one appears to be a bivalve of some sort. It is about half an inch and opens and closes regularly. Also, any idea what the long, white stringy stuff is? It appears every now and then in various places on the rock.

The second has not changed in size since I got the rock about a month ago. It does close up sometimes.

Thanks in anticipation.

Jenny the third pic is of a brown button polyp, and is nothing to worry about. I have a few in my tank that came on live rock.

The first two look like a little mussel shell or a bivalve like you say. I also have some of these in my tank, but all mine appear to be dead and just the remains of a shell left behind.

P.S the rock looks very nice, can I ask where you got it from?

Wow, that was quick guys. Thanks.

I really can't remember where I got the first rock but I think it was from one of the few LFSs in my area (North Lincolnshire). I now go on days out looking at marine stores. The brown polyp rock was my last addition and it came from a store in Nottinghamshire. Am I allowed to mention individual shops?
