Steve Irwin what a terrible thing to happen to a person who loved wildlife and life so much that his life had to end this way. My deepest thoughts go out to his family and friends all over the world. RIP Eric.

What tragic news. I thought I was still dreaming when I heard it on the radio this morning. He's just one of those people you consider immortal, loved watching his shows.

RIP Steve Erwin: CROCS RULE

It is a great shame especially for his children. Always on the cards though, you cant be as reckless as he was with dangerous animals and get away with it indefinately. I just wonder if he had to be that way for the cameras?

Liquidlogic how could you imagine a man who runs around in croc pens with raw meat in his hands, wrestles crocs, catches deadly snakes with one hand and looks them in the face, messes with black widow spiders, dives with sharks and goads and catches ANY dangerous wild animal to be immortal? He was and knew he was living on borrowed time hence his request for the footage of his death to be played on tv, cracking chap but you have to admit he had a death wish.

Now can I tell the jokes???

dude i know that. he had a love for animals. and was facinated by them devoted his whole life for them. he didnt have a death wish at all. he loved animals. i have to admit i am the same in many ways. Why do you want to tell jokes about a man who has lost his life? Its godam out of order personaly. if you want to tell "jokes" pm them to people...

Jeez Andy lighten up, Thats life mate and whats life if we cant make a joke of it?? Are we all supposed to have a weeks mourning now cause a bloke of the tele died? Come on.

p.s. If anyone does want to hear these apparently highly contraversial jokes p.m. me and i will tell you.

Hi Reefer. Not wanting to be funny, but i think people who have lost their lives in tragic circumstances like Steve Irwin should not have fun or jokes made about them on a public board. I am sure that the rest of the members feel the same way as well, and if any one wants to tell these types of things should do so in private as you have just suggested. Thanks Eric

I’m keeping my personal opinion of Steve Irwin to myself but if this news article is true this really is tragic.

STINGRAYS 'MUTILATED' IN IRWIN REVENGE ATTACKS

Conservationists in Australia believe fans of late CROCODILE HUNTER STEVE IRWIN have embarked on a revenge campaign against the stingray which killed him last week (04SEP06). The crusading naturalist died after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving on the Great Barrier Reef, and at least 10 of the animals have been found dead with their barbed tails cut off. MICHAEL HORNBY, executive director of Irwin's conservation charity Wildlife Warriors, says, "Killing stingrays is not what Steve was about. "It may be some sort of retribution, or it may be fear, or it may be yet another callous act towards wildlife." Irwin was only the second recorded Australian to have been killed by a stingray.

ive nothing against the man and feel sorry for his family.

but would you be so surprised to hear of a man who tormented dangerous animals on a regular bases to loose his life or even have too much sympathy for such a person if he was a nobody? would you give even more sympathy if this tormentaion was only done for the publics entertainment?

tho his death was not by one of his tormented it seems god moves in mysterious ways.........

so the outcome of his death is that now more animals wont be tormented for your entertainment, is that good or bad?

like i said ive nowt against him as a person but i honestly dont feel any sorrow except for his children being fatherless.

if this was a story of a guy (a nobody) who worked in a circus performing/tormenting wild animals some of you lot would have a diff opinion.

all you gary glitter fans of yesteryear would you pay to watch him now?

Berns i do not want to turn this thread into a slanging match, but i feel you are way off the mark with your comments.

You say the man tormented animals?? i strongly disagree he was educating viewers on the animal itself and i would guess that a vast majority of the smaller animals (snakes, spiders etc) where probably planted in the areas so he could show them us.

He did a fantastic amount of work for animal charitys etc and i stand to be corrected but i am sure he had his own rescue centre too.

So my opinion is that the man did an amazing amount of work for the GOOD of the animals not the viewers!!

RIP Steve and thanks for the work you did

What ever your thoughts on this man may have been. He has lost his life. in that fact it's a sad loss. So as this thread may run into something other than to pay your respects I am going to keep a close eye on it.
