Hi All,
This is my first ever try at keeping any fish, Yep and I choose to keep marine fish, I went to a store outside London, 2 weeks ago and ordered myself a custom built tank & sump.
Tank - 60 long x 24 high x18 wide
Sump - 48 long x 18 high x 15 wide
Tanks were supposed to be delivered on Sept 4th, but not fully cured yet so delivery will be Wed 6th Sept , I guess this is a good thing as I havent finished building the cabnet yet (save myself some money building it this way)
Picture show the cabinet, with inside painted white, will also be giving it a quick coat of marine varnish.
Also added picture of my little monster who loves EVERYTHING PINK !!!!!
More photos to come.....

Very nice cabinet. We made ours for the same reason. I'd recommend the Ronseal outdoor varnish (its the one that says its longer lasting than yacht varnish on the tin). We used this on our cabinet and have had several overflows from the sump with none of the water finding its way onto the floor. Despite there being 2-3" of water in the cabinet.
PS that's surely an angel not a monster and one with very good taste - I like pink too ;)

Set my RO unit up yesturday, but having a big problem, There is hardly any water output..... just a drizzle, took me 9 hours to fill up the large water bottles in the pic. :( PS small water leak anyone know of any glue to seal plastic pipe to meatal ???
Each bottle holds 18.5 litres of water. My tank holds circa 140 Gallons. At this rate it will be a whole month before the tanks are full. :(
Still waiting on tank to arrive Hope Wednesday 6th Sept.
Also bought some corals ........ dont worry they have been paid for but will only be delivered to me next month. So my tanks has time to cycle. Plus they can feed them and allow them to get bigger.
Umbrella Mushroom Coral,
Orange Ricordia Mushroom,
Branching Hammer Coral,
Candycane Coral,
and a Shortspine Urchin

Unfortunately, RO production does take forever. It takes our unit about 2 hours to produce 5g and, indeed, took us about 4 days of the unit running 24/7 to produce approx 120g when filling our 6x2x2 (the remaining 50g was moved over from our existing tank). If your mains pressure is quite low then I know you can get a pump to help out but don't use one myself so not sure how it works exactly. Also, the gallonage usually quoted on RO units is for US gallons and not imperial which doesn't help matters either.

I found that the rate of water production increased with my RO unit quite a bit after a few months use.

yes same here i get on average 1.5 gal per hour...not sure if this is fast or slow but i can live with it.

Your mains water pressure must be low, mine is so I have a 5 stage with booster pump, and resovoir, it takes around 15 mins to get 4 gallons out of the unit.

My 4 stage deltec one at home takes a long time to fill a 5 gal bucket. but my water pressure is extremely low so I am not that surprised. It would work better with a pump but I'm not that bothered at the moment.

I will learn to live with the water output, and put the 75 quid for the booster towards some live rock
Many thanks for info people

most RO units are slow this depends on water pressure and temperature.mine usually gives approx 2 galls an hour.derek

I bought an unbranded 50 gallon a day ro unit 2 years ago. I have since put it in the bin! It used to produce about 2 gallon a day. It took me a week to fill up a aquamedic percula and this was already 3/4 full from my previous tank. Reef Critters system is run with a 200 gallon RO-MAN unit (twin 100 gallon membranes). It cost a few pound but I have saved 10 fold on water charges this year alone. It easily produces 200 gallon a day and this is with the meter showing low water pressure (inbetween grenn/red). The TDS also reads 0-1ppm all the time from an input of around 144ppm. A quality piece of kit. You get what you pay for I guess and this unit was certainly worth the investment for me.
