well i have had the skimmer for about a month or 2 now and iam very pleased with its performance it pulls out both dry and wet skimmate.
this is what has been collected after 3 days. please remember my tank is lightly stocked and they are fed twice a day so not loads of skimmate is going to be produced any way.

that is about 1.5 inch of wet skimmate as you can see it is pretty concentrated and it absolutly stinks (the white stuff is just some foam on the outside of the cup)

in this pic you can see some of the dry skimmate that collects on the outside of the cup. its pretty thick and is annoying to clean as it also collects inside the skimmer where the cup is located.

ive been thinking about switching my mce600 to the mce300, cos its a pita getting the cup out(my cabinet is not high to get the cup out, without sliding the skimmer out)

how tall is the unit and how much room is needed to get the cup out when its hung on the side, assuming your skimmer is in a sump cabinet

and whats the noise level like?

hi steve i wouldnt recommed changing mate the mce 600 is much better tbh.

it stands at 45cm and you need about 20cm gap to pull the collection cup out nicely.

its not to noisey about the equivalent of a good quality air pump

we just purchased said item but we have new tank so wont know how it works yet. do like it been clear tho. had to alter lid etc but cool now.

Hi,

You should find both units the bees kness in skimming.

I used the MCE600 on my old tank, very happy with it. :) :)

mines doin fine pulling out loads of rubbish
