View Full Version : Can a orange sun coral be placed on the sand?

Hi just wondered if a sun coral shoukd be placed on a sand bed or not?
I know they need shade.:)

Hi there, I have had a sun coral now for nearly 2 years and it has always been sat on the substrate and is very happy. They like to be fed about twice weekly.

yep sandbed is fine. must be target fed to succeed with these corals though.. :)

Feed regular, mysis, krill, will be fine

hi iv'e never had a sun coral before what is it you use to feed it and how do you go about it?

Echo the above, place it where it is easyier for you to get food to it.

After some monitoring, if it does not sem happy, you could always move it to another location.

Hi,

I have mine for some while now.

Its located 3rd up from bottom of tank, near front.

As Adam has said, easy access for feeding.

Just make sure you feed regularly. If it struggles to come out, use cyclopeze and waft it over sun (pumps ect swithched of), it shold open up, the use turkey baster and target feed.

place it in water flow whicn imo is more important than light conditions
