It looks like a red algae if you do a google on algaes you might find it, there are 100s of algaes in the marine world. The stars leg will grow back as i have had them with only 1 leg and they have grown back. Twiggy

with the sharp tips it resembles an algae i had in my tank years ago. it was called yugo or something similar, it was a hawaiian endemic and burrowed into the rock, friends who took frags couldn't get it to grow, because i think it need to be anchored. apparently it's fantastic for refugiums. slow growing for the first few inches it then skyrockets. will try to get the definite name, busy with google as we speak.

It is very shiny a neon-like in certain lights... Looks nice to be honest! I may just keep it in there and see what happens

Red algae is always hard to identify scientific name. I am thinking some kind of Gracillaria sp.
