Hi guys.
Just a quick question as going to get some glass to build my new tank and looking at getting the base drilled and just wanted to be sure of what the minimum distance from the edge it needs to be etc as front to back will only be 16 inch so want the wier to not be too obtrusive obviously.
Glass thickness will be 6mm
Cheers, mark

Hi Mark the norm for 10mm is 2 inch apart from edge to edge, 6 mm will be a bit further i would say around 2 and half inch but be care ful when you tighten sockets as you could crack the hole. If your doing a twin pipe job you will need a area around 6x6inch square for a weir either in middle or in a corner. Twiggy

Thanks Eric.
Will only be doing 1 hole so that will make it a smaller footprint hopefully.
Tank will be 38x15(ish)x16 LxHxW as stand and alcove limit any bigger :( so hence why the query as don't want the weir to overpower the display etc.

Hi Mark if you leave around just over 2 inch from the edge of the glass with the hole will be fine, i would go for a 55mm single hole for a 40mm tank connecter. Twiggy
