Agree with Tetly, If you are planning an upgrade i would recommend looking at MH lighting pushing at least 150w. To keep a BTA...

With a tank that size you will never be able to keep the parameters and water chemistry at a suitable level for an anemone.

So it is a big no from me aswell.

I've seen people with the D&D Nano 24 keep BTA's

Is this size tank ok of a BTA? And are the lights ok i.e. 2 x 36w T5 50/50?

I've seen it done too and even considered it myself. But, as said, water parameters have to be spot on, always, no variations whatsoever. BTA's potentially grow huge, way bigger than the area in the tank. They sting anything in their path so any corals would be a no no. No matter where you put corals, the BTA will potentially be within reach. If, for any reason, the BTA died then you would be looking at total wipeout. With such a small amount of water volume, the pollution would be acute in those circumstances.

You might get away with a green BTA under those lights but imho, its not worth the risk.

Hi Rich,

Again, IMO, I would have to say no. The nem will need stable conditions, which in a nano is always hard.

I presume you are asking as you wish to keep clowns, if is the case, clowns do not need a nem, they will host in just about anything.

NB must type faster.

the 3 red bta i have in my tank have grown to over 16 in so i am afraid your tank might be just a bit to small to house one.derek
