Hey all
My tank is in serious need of a change around, i have an island effect but its boring the hell out of me at the moment...problem is i have a central weir so the only option i see is two islands and cover the weir with blue plastic like most do...does anyone have any pics of there central weir setups?...without the clump in the middle effect i might add:D
I need to bring the spirit back to compensate the electricity bill i just had :( Pic to follow

If you want my honest opinion I think its your softies that are making everything look crowded. Your rockwork looks great. Maybe try some serious fragging?

Mmmmm, something a bit different eh! Well, how about split the rockwork in two. Have the highest point of each island in the rear corners, sloping down to the front middle (ok so anyone who knows my tank may think it sounds familiar so far but I happen to like that look :o ). Then in the very centre in front of your weir, create one of those trendy rock pillars. Kinda like a work of art. The two islands on either side will lead your eye to the middle pillar.
But then again, I actually really like the look of your tank as it is but I know what you mean about needing a change to boost the old interest ;)

Oh and you may want to check our January's TOTM which has a central weir and is very very inspirational :D

I think the tank looks great but I would suggest that you have tried too hard to hide the weir. If the rock was lower, you would have more room for those lovely big softies to really stretch out, rather than looking a bit cramped. JMO though :)

looks ok,you could lower the rocks in the middle and some of the big softies would hide the weir.derek

Thanks for the replys all...
Stevie, my bill was the same mate :(...i like the idea of the two islands gilly but i dont want the rockwork up against the glass on the right side as you see this side as you walk past it...dont fancy looking at all the coraline like my old setup.....i dont want to thin the corals out too much as i like the "lush" look, prefer looking at coral than rock to be honest but that bush at the top could do with a trim :) as for the weir derek i think i will try that mate, there are a few corals that will make a good job of hiding most of the weir...the rest i can patch with xenia but maybe start high at the left side down to a layer on the right???...somewhere for the zoas..
i feel a whole weekender coming on i think:p
Thanks again
Wayne
