is it safe to make frag disks from ceramic tiles?

I think so, i've seem quite a few people advertise frags on tiles before. I have some myself and never had any problems.
I was lucky enough to check ebay the other day and someone was selling ocean wonders disks 15 for £3 so i bought all 3 lots he had ...Bargain!

they may be additives on the disk that can leech out. And if not I would certainly cure them.

why not make your own? Then you will know whats in them and it will cost a fraction of the price.

Cement (blue circle), water, argonite sand and bobs your Aunty!

You could even add broken shells, rock to the mix.

Cure with white vinegar and water so the ph is neutralised from the cement!

a good way to cure them, is to stick them in your toilet cistern, auto water change. just don't stick a bloo cake in there!

I purchased mine from frag doctor before.

Having said that, I'd like to have a go at making some. Only thing is, where could I get moulds from?

I suppose I could use an existing frag plug, and use it to make indents in a tray of moist sand. Could you use that as a mould?

Well if TMC use them to spawn their clowns on, you can bet their ok for frags. Also the ceramic surface is probably really easily inhabitable by the base of the frag. Can get small mosaic type ones but I think thier expensive? Anyone found a cheap supply? Very sturdy base to grow on and would prevent any "I've just touched you" acidents in fast flowing tanks.
