Steve it is not a cone snail lol :D a cone snail looks like a cone

It is sold as a tiger Nass snail that I believe may be a babylon species but still to confirm. It is a sand dwelling carnivore and the only worry I have is it may like a clam now and again but this is unconfirmed! I am only guessing due to it being very familiar with the babylon species of snail. What link did you find saying it was poisnous?

Gotta say Steve, I think James is right on this one. Your snail looks a lot like a Babylonia sp. Have a look at these:

Steve apart from looking like a cone, cone snail opening go the whole length of their shell, this is how you can tell the difference between them and other snails that look the same , ie. mitre snails.

I can assure you it is not a cone snail but more than likely a Babylonia species of sand snail.

I have update your pic to explain it better steve, Your snail opening does not run right through the underside of its shell like a cone snail - LINE B

its opening LINE A places it in a completely different family.

I have handled these snails and they are harmless. The cone snail is a completely different shape. I gave them a propper going over yesterday when Steve set alarm bells off and I too could only find them looking like the Babylonia. I even felt so sure that I tried agitating 1 with my bare fingers knowing for sure that they are harmless. All these snails (that Steve got) do is a great job sifting through the sand. They are also a very beautiful looking snail.
