My two pairs of clowns (Percula & Tomato) have been in a race for the last 18 months, not that they've known anything about it I must admit (didn't want to put them off) :-?
But I can proudly announce that today my pair of Percula Clowns have won and have spawned for the very first time. I'm sooooo chuffed and have been watching them all afternoon :-D
On the downside, they seem to be eating as many as they are producing. Is this normal for first timers?

yep i would say its normal....my clowns first 10 or so spawns resulted in them eating the eggs in a day or so.
I have actually had baby clowns once but they must have died more or less straight away, however they clowns will be moved very soon to a new frag tank so hopefully i will have some more sucess

Thanks, that's put my mind at rest.
Good luck with the frag tank project - sounds intriguing ;)

For the record, my two pairs of clowns are in different tanks. I honestly wouldn't dare to put my tomato clowns in with my percs cause my female tomato is a wee b***h. My percs host mostly in my frogspawn euphyllia and I've noticed that they've been cleaning the rock underneath recently and that's exactly where they spawned. As I understand it the cleaning behaviour is a definite prelude to spawning. I'm just glad I was around to witness it.
