these are very nervous and timid feeders, and will usually hide when the tank is fed when bolder tank mates are darting about. i would suggest trying different foods to find their favourites, and feed little and often. try flake food crumbled in a small tub of water, stir it vigorously so that it will sink and pour in the tank.

These fish will change sex to make a pair so i hope he didn't pay a premium for the 'breeding pair'-the hardest thing is getting them to feed. Were they from a shop? You may have to target feed them frozen food to get them used to eating. Once you have them feeding they will come to get food from the water column quite confidentally. Try a mix of frozen foods-lobster eggs, cyclops, mysis, marine mix etc etc. When you have them feeding add some crushed flake food to the mix-this will get them eating flake too.

what do you mean by little and often? as don't want to over feed them they were £18 a pair is that a good price? they were from a shop.
The person who sold them to us didn't have a clue about them we knew more than she did on marine fish! as have researched but different websites were saying different things so got a bit confused.
I am quite thick so sorry you might have to explain it to me like a dummy guide lol

cheers toria

That's a good price for 2-Cl0wn means feed 5, 6, 7 even 8 times a day with small amounts of food.

frozen mysis and brine is nutritionally very poor, as they are timid when they take foor you want it to be the best, try frozen cyclops, cyclopeeze, google golden pearls fish food (this is excellent). clown gobys are planktonivores iirc so will more than likely accept smaller foods. really can't recommend golden pearls enough, have kept my mandarin going!

sorry really didn't answer this question, until you can get something nutritionally better, yes defrost in ro, sieve and rinse in ro as well.

I get lobster eggs easily, only had oyster eggs once or twice though. If you struggle to get them let me know and i'll post you some if you want. Tobiko sounds good we have a couple of Chinese supermarkets in Leeds so will have a look for them.
