Mmmmm...mushies ;)

They look like Rhodactis indosinensis to me, I have some very similar. Will purse up if fed, quite fun to watch. Don't get much bigger than about 5" when in a colony and multiply rapidly if well fed. So good news if you want frags to sell back to your lfs and bad news if you have any SPS in annoying range. Prefer bright light too.

I know everyone seems to think Ricordia are the bees knees but I much prefer Rhodactis.

Agreed, I had 3 come in on some LR i brought, very funny when they are small and you feed them, roll up into footballs :D Still cool when they get bigger too.

How & what do you feed these guys ?

Was under impression feeding was not required.

Thanks in advance.

I just pop a bit of meaty food (mysis etc) with a pipet anywhere on the shroom and they curl up so it heads to their mouth.

They seem to ignore the likes of flake, pellets etc etc. Don't blame them really :D

Cheers for that, would you say they DO require feeding in order to thrive?

Or not?

Thanks

I thought they were rhodactis at first but looking closer, I reckon they might be ricordea. either way, they should do fine without feeding

I wondered if they were ricordia at first too but if you look closely some of the tenticles are forked, which I believe only happens with Rhodactis. If they purse up then they are definitely Rhodactis.

Rhodactis will do fine without feeding. However, I've fed mine ever since one ate a porcelein crab. The larger 10" ones I feed with krill or chopped silverside. The smaller ones I try and target with mysis. I only do this every 2-3 weeks though just to keep them ticking over. I have perching fish so don't want any of them to be eaten ;)

Thanks for this thread, ID'd a freebie I recieved a little while ago, purchased a small piece of liverock with 1 head? on, only to find that there may have been quite a few on the piece of rock as appears there are a number of small 'pieces' that appear to be growing and forming new corals (original damage in transit?). Hopefully in a few months rock will be covered in them.

Hadn't considered target feeding, seems to grab a bit of shrimp as it floats within range and curls up into a ball - very strange behaviour the first time I saw it happen.
