I recieved this as a Christmas gift and so, after being away from fihkeeping for aabout three years, here I am back again.

I painted the rear panel, assembled all the bits and filled it with water.
Today, the live rock and live sand arrived so that went in.
Now I just have to test the water until any ammonia, etc goes away.

Here is a pic of the tank now that the sand and rock is in place:

Well, I tried what I was told and it hasn't worked.
I get a message telling me to drag & drop but there is nothing to drag.
:confused5::confused5::confused5::confused5:

Thank you my friend.

Now, why can't I do that?

I intend to stock this tank mainly with Ricordea florida.
Maybe a Candycane coral and a small soft coral too.

As for fish, I am undecided, either a Firefish, a purple Firefish or a Royal Gramma.

I have checked the water parameters today, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate all present.

Patience, patience...

Yes tom patience is definately the key in this hobby as long as you nitrite and ammonia are 0 and you nitrate preferably below 30 that's when your ready. Some people do prefer to wait until the nitrate is 0 too

I intend waiting until the nitrate is as low as possible and then carry out a water change.

I may even wait three or four months before stocking.
I have had tanks whrere I stocked too soon and it led to problems.

i think this is an excellant idea ,as you said people have added stuff too soon and either lost every thing or had problems ,it is always better to safe than sorry and regret not waiting ,as no one can afford to lose waste money on buying lovely things then losing them

The only test kits I have are those you mentioned plus a phosphate test kit.

I only test every other day.

The only livestock going in before about April will be a hermit or two and some snails, in other words, algae eaters.

yeh having a good cuc in your tank will definately help it to run better, keep an eye on what macca gets in, i have had cuc off him and its great stuff and super priced too
